Patrician Brothers

Kabongo, Eldoret, Kenya

  • One51 Foundation is supporting the Patrician Brothers on projects in Kabongo, Eldoret which provide much needed social services for a community of 8,000 people. Kabongo is a severely impoverished region, 14km from the city of Eldoret, where there is a notable absence of primary healthcare services, and many people contract HIV/Aids, malaria, TB, pneumonia and other opportunistic diseases.
  • One51 Foundation has financed the implementation of a medical services project and in partnership with the Portlaoise Rotary Club has provided a mobile Health Clinic.

Specifically the Foundation has supported:

  • Fit out a Medical Dispensary
  • Fund a Laboratory, Counselling and Testing Centre to address HIV/AIDS
  • Provide and Fit Out a mobile Clinic

The provision of these basic medical services has enabled the treatment and prevention of many communicable diseases. Support from the One51 Foundation has enabled the Patrician Brothers to establish a Mobile Medical Clinic to meet the needs of the people of Kabongo, Eldoret. The clinic deals largely with people affected and infected by HIV/Aids.

The Mobile Clinic provides services to pregnant women, children and AIDS patients across some 10 communities in the region, and provides care for day to day illnesses thus relieving the already overburdened and under serviced general hospital which is located in Eldoret and is out of reach for a large number of people in this region (40 miles or more on foot).
