Friends in Ireland
The development of the Hospice, Orphan care Centre and Clinic at Lusikisiki is well under way and the Municipality of Lusikisiki, South Africa has registered the centre as a 'place of safety' and a 'place of care'. This is an essential technical requirement for the project to succeed. This will allow Friends in Ireland to outreach many abused and orphaned children who normally fall through the cracks.
The construction of the residential child care facilities and feeding centre and Crèche are complete and now operational. Friends in Ireland have opened an ARV (Anti Retro Viral) Clinic in Lusikisiki and the adjoining crèche.
Friends in Ireland partnered with the Scouts this summer to raise awareness and funds for their work with vulnerable children in South Africa. At the World Scouting Jamboree in August the Scouts worked on building the biggest Knott in the World in support of Friends in Ireland Benefit Day.
